I am trying to get a restaurant gig playing classical guitar. So far I
have gone to Hooters and Burger King and they said no. Tomorrow I am
going to talk to the manager of the snack bar at K Mart. Wish me luck!

Maybe they really meant yes. Was the guy you talked to foreign? I've
got a grad asst. who shakes his "no" when he really means "yes".
becasue he's from some f**ked up country. You should just walk in and
play as though they had hired you.

Kent,
I don't care what they (or I) say about you here. You really give some
good advice. These are things I would have never have thought of. By
the way, do you have any ideas for some good tunes to play at Hooters?

Whenever I play at Hooter's, I always bring my "twanger" and I play
with that. I've had great success strengthening my extensor muscles
with the twanger. Che/Doc told me he never leaves the house without his
either even if it's to go to the DMV (that's dept. of motor vehicles)

I made an arrangement of "Big Bottom" by Spinal Tap for classical guitar.
I'm sure it would fit in somehow.

Try making an arrangement of Jimi Hendrix's sexually explicit song "FHITA".
As long as folks don't know the lyrics you'll be safe.

I'd add "Once bitten, twice shy" to your list. Theme and variations.

At Hooter's? How about my delightful arrangement of "The Owl and the
Pussycat"?

follow by "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Neggent
"Well I don't know where they come from but they sure do come. I hope
they're coming for me."

"And I don't know how they do it but they sure do it good. I hope
they're doin' it for free.

by the end of the night , they sing The Torture Never Stops by Zappa ..(
as a teenage I really like Zoot Allures)

The Torture Never Stops
Flies all green 'n buzzin' in his dungeon of despair
Prisoners grumble and piss their clothes and scratch their matted hair
A tiny light from a window hole a hundred yards away
Is all they ever get to know about the regular life in the day;
An' it stinks so bad the stones been chokin'
'N weepin' greenish drops
In the room where the giant fire puffer works
'N the torture never stops
The torture never stops

Slime 'n rot, rats 'n snot 'n vomit on the floor
Fifty ugly soldiers, man, holdin' spears by the iron door
Knives 'n spikes 'n guns 'n the likes of every tool of pain
An' a sinister midget with a bucket an' a mop where the blood goes down the
drain;

Ed, you're my man!

As an encore we choose Camarillo Brillo, Muffin Man and St. Bernardino.

um, maybe we should open restaurant call "Zappa's Place" .. . which could
be a lot more fun than Hooters.Next to ""Zappa's Place" could be a bar
"Joe's Garage" You and I could run the restaurant (I'm a black napkin kind
of guy) and Greg and Robert (Crim) can handle "Joe's Garage." Maybe Greg
and Robert will have open mic night at "Joe's Garage" except on Wed night
which could be Wet t-shirt Night, those nights maybe Robert and Greg will
handle the music chores playing wonderful music on the lute.I hope Robert
doesn't get nail with "Sexual Hassassment in the Workplace" We could have
Troy play at the restaurant since he is looking for a gig and I think he
would be happy knowing he gets two free drinks at "Joe's Garage"
and we don't want him to"Wind up Working in the Gas Station"

okay okay . . I'll "Shut up and Play My Guitar"

I had a gig like that once. I didn't make any money, but I sure could
stuff a lot of Whoppers into the guitar's soundhole when no one was
looking. It was a sweet gig until I got busted by Mayor McCheese. BTW,
no matter how many times someone double-dog-dares you, don't ever bob
for french fries. imho.

Luck!

It's hard to break into classy places like that. Try 7-11 and Exxon.

Actually I did play a gig a 711 but I got my guitar stolen when I was
on break out side smoking a cigarette with one of the employees. 711
says their not responsible because I was never officially hired by
them. My friend who works there at night let me come in and play. I was
set up right next to the pac-man machine and I think that annoyed some
people.

Hey, you'll probably never know exactly why the guy suddenly turned and
took a bite out of your guitar.
