Here's an interesting article: "How do tendons and ligaments heal?" by Per
Aspenberg

According to him, NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) impede the healing process, and
putting your injured tendon under some load helps it heal correctly whereas
total resting causes it to heal incorrectly.

Some have found that immobilization vs passive loading may each be the
best strategy depending upon the specific circumstance.
